Laura Wilson

Visiting Research Fellow

I am interested in how history is carried and evolved through everyday materials, trades and craftsmanship. I work with specialists to develop sculptural and performative works that amplify the relationship between materiality, memory and tacit knowledge. My interdisciplinary and research-based works have been exhibited nationally and internationally including at: CCA Derry~Londonderry; Istanbul Design Biennial; V&A; British Museum; SPACE; RIBA; Delfina Foundation; Site Gallery; Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery; Whitstable Biennial; Camden Arts Centre; Turner Contemporary. Wilson was the inaugural Kitchen and Garden Artist in Residence at MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, part of Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK (2021-23). I am a Research Fellow at the V&A, a Churchill Fellow (2011) and was awarded the Dover Prize 2021.

I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and live and work in London.
